Appointments

Appointment System

The practice operates a choice of same day appointments and those which can be booked in advance.   Patients can choose to be seen at either site.

When you ask for an appointment, the receptionist will ask if you mind explaining briefly what the problem is. This is called “triage” and is to make sure that you see the right person and to make sure that those who need to see a doctor actually get seen. It may be better to see a nurse than a doctor, they have longer appointments and are usually bookable in advance. Children under 16 years of age should always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Same day appointments

We ask that you telephone the surgery after 8:00am – why not register to book your appointments on line?   Speak to reception to register for 24/7 access to our appointment system.

Pre-bookable appointments

These appointments are aimed at patients who struggle to see a doctor due to work commitments.  There are only a limited number of appointments to be booked in advance.

We do have a significant non attendance rate for pre-booked appointments,  if you no longer need the appointment please telephone the surgery the day before to cancel this appointment so that it can be offered to someone else who needs it on the day.

Extended Hours – Friday Mornings from 6:45am at Roe Lee Surgery.

We offer appointments outside of the normal surgery hours.

These are for those who struggle to see a doctor due to work commitments. There are only a limited amount of appointments which are to be booked in advance.

Two for one Appointments

Please note that ONE APPOINTMENT SLOT IS FOR ONE PERSON.

When booking an appointment, each patient is given an allocated time. This time is to allow an appropriate consultation length of time for one person. If you are wanting more than one person to be seen by the GP then you must make a separate appointment. Please do not ask the doctor to see an extra patient who does not have an appointment.

It is not fair on other patients who have made their appointment and certainly not fair to the doctor whose surgery then runs late.

Late for appointments

Please arrive on time for your appointment and let us know you have arrived using the Self Check-In screen.

If you are 5 minutes late the reception staff will have to check with the doctor/nurse if you can still be seen.

Other available appointments

The practice is a member of Blackburn with Darwen’s Local Primary Care GP federation.  Local Primary Care federation runs a GP extended access service that provides additional appointments at four neighborhood spoke surgeries. Patients can be booked into one of the four spoke surgeries via the practice receptionists accordingly. Please ask at reception for more information.
